EyesOn Design Crystal Awards
Just as the automotive display at EyesOn Design showcases the beauty of automotive design, the awards presented are exquisite examples of crystal design. In celebration of the show’s tenth anniversary in 1998, distinguished American crystal designer Steven V. Correia created crystal sculptures to reflect both the artistry of the automotive design process and the importance of the work done by the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology to improve the lives of the visually impaired. We are proud to once again award trophies created by Steven V. Correia. Corriea’s work is stunning. Each sculpture captures the elements of precision, clarity, and reflectivity symbolizing the relationship between automotive design and the gift of sight. Each piece is of optical crystal, the purest glass in the world—used in high-tech ocular applications. It was chosen for its clarity, brilliance, and reflective properties similar to those of the human eye. “The medium must be void of all imperfections before I can design with light and imbue the space with light’s illusions”, says Correia of his choice of optical glass for EyesOn Design awards. Each award winner will receive, in varying sizes, one of the timeless symbols of vision created by Steven V. Corriea to honor the examples of automotive design excellence at EyesOn Design. |
