1948 Buick Super Convertible
In 1949, Buick debuted with its first all-new postwar body in both the Super and Roadmaster line-up. The Special continued into mid-year using the same body as it had since 1942. Buick's porthole fender design began with the 1949 Roadmaster and Super. For quick identification, the Supers sported three portholes while the Roadmasters had four. The wheelbase was shortened on both series, the Super being 121 inches.
Mechanically, not too much happened under the hood. The Super was now available with Dynaflow and cars so equipped developed 120 horsepower at 3600 rpm with 6.9 to 1 compression. Supers without Dynaflow kept the same specifications as in 1948.
