EyesOn Research
The Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology (DIO) is actively collecting and collating the published and unpublished scientific literature related to our two research initiatives: The Eye and The Auto and The Eye and The Chip. A database of articles, Internet communications and lectures on these topics is being compiled for use as an essential cross-reference resource base. Each of these Research projects gathers about 35 of the world's leading authorities in Detroit for a three-day colloquium, designed to exploit collegial exchange on a specific subject. The Eye and The Chip studies the very timely research initiative which will one day couple neurobiology and nano-electronics to provide truly artificial vision - ultimately affording some persons now blind to see again. The Eye and The Auto studies the many factors which influence the relationship between vision and the safe operation of a motorized vehicle.
