Support groups The DIO, with help from its volunteer arm the Friends of Vision, provides support services for the visually impaired and blind. A person needs support as soon as possible after a diagnosis of vision loss has been received. The message that life can still be rewarding and useful must be communicated. Support groups help the individual realize:

the care giver or family by providing assurance that the visually
impaired individual can lead a safe and satisfying life. The DIO currently
manages support groups involving over 200 individuals.
